Join creators Emily Joof, Jack Wong, and Lucy Ruth Cummins for a conversation with author Valerie Bolling about their summertime picture books which explore diverse experiences of swimming, gathering and family.

Valerie, Emily, Jack and Lucy will share their thoughts about the importance of portraying children of color, of diverse body sizes and abilities out in nature, out at the community pool, enjoying the experience of a perfect summer day, with encouragement from friends and family and BIG JOY!

This #HF Gather will touch upon the history of how some marginalized people have been segregated at pools and beaches and how diverse summertime books are all about shouting, “Everyone is welcome! Everyone in the pool!”
