In Honor of Jerome Weisman

Friends and family have established the Jerome Weisman Art Studio, library display, and Jerome Weisman Scholarship Fund in honor of Jerome Weisman, a prolific illustrator who inspired millions of children during a 43-year career with Highlights for Children.

They ensure Jerry’s legacy for years to come—supporting future generations of illustrators who inspire children through art and story, just like Jerry did.

The Art Studio’s History

Jerry spent many an evening visiting in the living room of the house with Highlights founders Garry and Caroline Myers, and would have looked out the living room window to what was the “chicken coop.”

In 2017, the chicken coop was renamed The Art Coop.  In 2024, it was dedicated as The Jerome Weisman Art Studio in honor of Jerry’s dedication to illustration for children.

Illustrators, artists, and others who retreat at the Highlights Foundation enjoy the warm and inviting studio space as they work to inspire kids, just like Jerry did.

In addition to the Art Studio being named in his memory, the Jerome Weisman Scholarship fund provides assistance to illustrators pursuing their craft.
