Elise McMullen-Ciotti is an author, children’s book editor, and food scholar with NYU Steinhardt’s Food Studies master’s program. Her research focuses on hidden food histories and the restoration of Indigenous foodways. Some of her books and stories include KANUCHI DAY, HEDGE OVER HEELS, and “Cannibal at the Door” in CALLING THE MOON with more on the way. As senior editor at Lee & Low Books, she specializes in middle grade and YA fiction. Elise is a proud member of the Cherokee Nation and grew up in Texas. Today, she lives in New York City with her husband, a large personal library, and an open kitchen.
