Eileen Robinson has worked with children’s writers all over the world for over twenty years. Former Executive Editor at Scholastic, Editorial Director at Harcourt and co-founder of Reycraft Books, she has acquired published works from the U.K. and Italy, and created original works for U.S. markets. One of the very few African-Americans to own an imprint, she is the founder of Move Books, now housed at Charlesbridge Publishing as “Charlesbridge Moves,” headed by Eileen. She teaches the art of revision with Harold Underdown at their annual Revision Retreat through The Highlights Foundation as well as individual workshops. She also serves on the Connecticut Digital Library Board helping connect new voices with readers, as well as working to amplify the voices of people of color.
“Harold [Underdown] and Eileen [Robinson] are masters in their work. Both instructors are patient, kind, respectful, thoughtful and give great feedback while also focusing on the positive. They were both wonderful to work with and I’d love to take a class with either of them again in the future.”
“Eileen and Harold [Underdown] provided a creative, informative and nurturing environment. Their cohesive chemistry was encouraging, professional, and wide open to our questions and particular problem areas.”
“Eileen [Robinson] critiqued in a way that I’d never experienced. She completely embodied my characters and gave me feedback directly from their own voices. It was actually a spiritual experience.
“Eileen helped me embrace being vulnerable and not hide feelings. Her encouragement gave me faith in my writing and to not give up.”
